We just released a major upgrade of our social network site like/diss and I became so excited that I generated 20 new private beta testing signup codes. We are still is in private beta mode.
When you have signed up you can invite three more friends to like/diss. Currently, you also get five more invitations for your friends for each bug you find and report.
Each invitation code below can only be used once, first come, first served. To signup, go to:

This private beta thing for social network sites is really strange. Since everything is beta anyway nowadays, why doesn’t you all open up your site to anyone.
There are a lot of site that have been required invitations and are in private beta mode too long for one to believe that it is about beta testing, e.g. Jaiku, grandcentral.com, Twine, mash.yahoo.com.
There’s a whole site dedicated to beta testing junkies sharing invitations:

I agree with John that the private beta mode has become an obsession in the social network world.
That being said, it is really essential for the like/diss team to let the member community expand in a controlled way since the site is still quite new and we need to fine-tune performance and scale up the site as we grow.
